Good morning,
This week we are looking at how the EU is changing the rules for selling goods online. We will see how new updates are making taxes simpler for businesses, while also tightening customs checks at the border.
Smoother selling
First, there is good news for online businesses selling across borders. The EU's simplified VAT systems, like the One Stop Shop, have been a huge success. Recent numbers show that these simplified EU VAT rules for e-commerce have generated over €125 billion while cutting red tape for nearly 200,000 businesses.
Tighter borders
At the same time, the EU is making big changes to how packages from outside Europe are handled. Under a major EU customs reform agreement, online platforms will now be responsible for paying customs duties instead of the shoppers. This will help stop unsafe products and make sure everyone pays their fair share.

Good morning,
This week brings crucial clarity for anyone importing goods into the EU. The European Commission has shared new rules to help verify carbon emissions starting in 2026. Let’s look at what this means for your compliance planning.
Ready for 2026?
The big news is that the EU released new guidance and registry access rules for CBAM verifiers. These guidelines help verifiers understand how to check emissions reports for goods imported into the EU.
Additionally, the guidance details how national bodies will monitor these verifiers. It also explains how accredited verifiers can gain access to the official CBAM registry starting in September 2026. These steps are essential to ensure a smooth transition when the full rules begin.

Good morning,
As we get closer to major green deadlines, getting the details right is more important than ever. This week, we are looking at a key set of rules designed to help importers handle carbon costs smoothly. Here is what you need to know to get ready.
Getting ready for carbon rules
The EU is preparing for the next big phase of its carbon import tax. To help businesses adapt, the European Commission has published new CBAM guidance documents for the 2026 definitive period.
These resources are designed to help importers and non-EU operators track actual emissions and verify their data. If you import carbon-heavy goods into Europe, these guides will make your compliance work much easier.
